Organic Cotton & Your Babies Skin

Babies skin is 30% thinner than ours, making it much more vulnerable to losing moisture, therefore making it dry and irritable. In babies developmental stage, skin is also more porous, which means it absorbs more of everything it comes into contact with, including harsh chemicals from clothes.

What is cotton? It is a natural fibre that comes from the seedpod of cotton plants. It's the most popular fabric in the world because its soft, breathable and easy to care for.

So what is organic cotton? It basically is cotton that has been produced without the use of toxic chemicals, pesticides or GMOs (genetically modified organisms). It is also safer to produce, uses less water, less energy, doesn't damage the soil in which it grows and has less impact on the air making it much more eco-friendly.

Organic cotton is the closest match to babies skin and is natures way of protecting and nurturing your babies delicate skin.

So are all my babies things Organic Cotton? Not at all as there is a price difference. But such things as our 100% Organic Cotton Muslins are good to have as baby grabs, is swaddled in and even chews on all the time. Whatever small changes we can make is great for baby and even better for the environment.
